ISLAMABAD / RankWire.AI / – Pakistan raised petrol prices again on October 6, extending an increase announced three days earlier. Petrol climbed by Rs0.88 to Rs393.64 per litre under the latest fuel revision. High-speed diesel fell by Rs1.88 to Rs397.76 per litre. The move followed the October 3 increase in both fuels. Petrol had reached Rs392.76 that day, while diesel moved to Rs399.64. The new rates replaced those levels for the October 6 pricing period.

Pakistan fuel prices diverge as petrol rises, diesel falls
Pakistan fuel prices move in opposite directions after the latest petroleum revision.

The October 3 revision lifted petrol by Rs2.10 from Rs390.66 per litre. High-speed diesel rose by Rs0.30 from Rs399.34. The Petroleum Division linked the change to international fuel price movements and other pricing inputs. These include benchmark rates, premiums and related costs. Pakistan’s fuel pricing system also reflects taxes and duties collected on petroleum products. The federal government currently collects Rs114 per litre on petrol and Rs100 per litre on high-speed diesel.

The October 6 adjustment changed the direction of diesel prices while petrol continued higher. Petrol increased by another Rs0.88 from the October 3 level. Diesel, however, dropped by Rs1.88 after its smaller increase three days earlier. Compared with October 2, petrol now stands Rs2.98 per litre higher. High-speed diesel is Rs1.58 lower over the same period. The latest revision therefore widened the price gap between the two major transport fuels sold across Pakistan.

Daily pricing creates frequent fuel changes

Pakistan moved to a daily fuel pricing system in July after using weekly revisions earlier in the year. The system allows domestic prices to respond more quickly to international market changes. Fuel prices can therefore rise or fall on consecutive days. Petrol and diesel can also move in opposite directions during the same review. The October 6 decision showed that pattern clearly. Petrol rose while diesel declined. The Petroleum Division continues to announce the revised rates for each pricing period.

Fuel prices remain well below their highest levels of 2026 despite recent increases. Petrol reached Rs458.41 per litre on April 3. High-speed diesel climbed to Rs520.35 per litre during the same period. Petrol had traded near Rs266 per litre in early March, while diesel stood near Rs281. By October 6, petrol was Rs64.77 below its April peak. Diesel was Rs122.59 lower than its own high. The figures show a large decline from levels recorded earlier this year.

Petrol and diesel remain key transport fuels

Petrol is widely used by cars, motorcycles and rickshaws across Pakistan. High-speed diesel is heavily used by trucks, buses, generators and other commercial equipment. The two fuels therefore affect different parts of the transport and energy economy. Their prices also remain important to consumers and businesses because fuel costs feed directly into daily operating expenses. The federal government continues to apply duties and taxes to both products as part of the national petroleum pricing structure.

For October 6, petrol stands at Rs393.64 per litre and high-speed diesel at Rs397.76 per litre. Those prices replace the October 3 rates of Rs392.76 and Rs399.64. The latest change adds Rs0.88 to petrol while cutting diesel by Rs1.88. It also continues the pattern of frequent adjustments under daily pricing. The October 3 increase remains the starting point for the latest movement, while the October 6 revision sets the current confirmed retail rates.
